Why it matters and what you can do about it
The center of your home acts much like a heart — it feeds energy to every other area of the house. When this center space is open, bright, and beautiful, the whole home benefits. When a bathroom occupies this spot, the energy dynamic shifts. The draining, downward nature of a bathroom works against the nourishing quality the center needs to hold. This is one of the most challenging placements in any home, but it can be managed.
Here are some practical tips to help you.
1.
Keep your bathroom clean and clutter-free. This is a must, and the very first step if you want to alleviate the negative energy of a bathroom in the center of a home. A good organizational system will help create (and keep) a sense of order in your bathroom. Look for various bathroom storage solutions from retailers such as Ikea, Crate and Barrel or a multitude of other home decor stores.
Do not skip this step as it is essential in order to keep the energy of your bathroom clean and orderly. Everything in your bathroom (especially in a home center bathroom) has to have its own place and purpose of being there, everything has to be treated with respect and care.
2.
Bring a sense of beauty to your bathroom. This can be any image or decor element that actually makes your heart smile. What image makes your heart happy? Find a way to bring it into this bathroom. Remember, the quality of energy in the center of your home is the quality of energy that eventuallay spreads throughout your whole home; important to be very intentional about it.
3.
Decorate your bathroom with decor items that create a warm and fiery quality of energy, and bring nourishing earthy energy too.
You can use naural, toxic free candles, raw crystals, images of fiery energy or calming earthy landscapes, to name just a few items. Each color, image and shape brings specific energy, and can be used to create a soothing spa bathroom in the center of your home.
4.
Be mindful of the quality of light in your bathroom. If you have no window in your bathroom (and you probably don’t in a bathroom that is located in the center of the home), create at least two (or more) levels of lighting by using a dimmer switch, candles, or bringing different light fixtures. The goal here is to avoid having a flat quality of light that creates static, low energy. Since our health is deeply (even though subtly) dependant on the quality of light our body receives, be mindful and do your best with this step.
5.
Take good care of your bathroom’s air quality. The air-purifying plants (if you have good light levels in your bathroom), or a high quality essential oils aromatherapy diffuser will help improve air quality and spread good energy.
A bathroom in the center of your home will always need attention. It takes consistent care to keep its energy clean and balanced, but this effort matters — the center affects the feeling of your entire house. In ancient architecture, the center of any dwelling was always kept open, allowing energy to move freely, and was always treated with beauty and intention. When a bathroom occupies this space, that same care becomes essential.
