A renovation changes more than the way a home looks. It changes how rooms relate to one another, how people move through the house, and how daily life unfolds within it. A plan can appear convincing on paper and still disturb something the existing house was already getting right.

I study the current house alongside the proposed plans before they are finalized. I identify what should be protected, what can be improved, and what may be best avoided. We then consider many practical alternatives to make the house work better for people who live there. The earlier we begin, the more influence the consultation can have on the decisions that follow.

You receive one week of email support from me as you begin working with the recommendations and discussing them with your architect, designer, or contractor. You also receive a recording of the consultation, so you can return to the guidance as your projects develops. Additional plan reviews can be arranged separately if the project changes substantially.

after the consultation

The consultation takes place online and lasts 2 hours. By the time we meet, I have already studied the existing house, the proposed plans, and everything you submitted. We review the renovation room by room and decision by decision. I explain which changes are likely to work well, which may create problems, and where alternatives should be considered. We then discuss practical options based on your priorities and what is realistically possible. If construction is already underway, we focus on the decisions that remain open and the adjustments that can still be made within the active process.
